***Warning: Lots of pictures.
We were in Santa Barbara for the remainder of our honeymoon. Here are some random pictures I want to share with you. They are a calibration of special moment we shared, and how we remember our first week as husband and wife.

Brozek Honeymoon {Part 5}
Horseback riding was a beautiful yet terrifying experience.
#1 it's really hard to ride a horse up and down a steep mountain. I don't care what anyone says.
#2 it's even harder when you look to your right and you could drop thousands of feet down. No there weren't safety bars. We were on a REAL mountain.
#3 You just want to cry when your horses start fighting for a pretty yellow flower (to eat) and they started running....while your bouncing up and down off your horse....and the horse slips and falls into a mountain wall. And even though it hurts like hell, your are just thankful it didn't slip the other way because that would equal death. Because that would have sucked.
But here is the pay off...
Isn't that view amazing?
All worth it.

Brozek Honeymoon {Part 4}
After our Santa Monica adventure we traveled 2 hours to Santa Barbara. It was so exhilarating to drive through the canyons and right on the coast. We were able to see the ocean all the way to Santa Barbara.
As we got closer we noticed a lot of smoke coming off the Santa Ynez mountains. We weren't sure what it was until we got our hotel...and then we were told the wild fires had started (and if you look below you can start to see the smoke). The power was out, and our credit card wouldn't go through. It was an interesting welcome into the beautiful town of Santa Barbara!!
But none of those things mattered..we were on our honeymoon. And it was pure bliss.
Absolutely Perfect.

Brozek Honeymoon {Part 3}
The 2nd day of our honeymoon I was extremely excited to get our butts to Santa Monica Pier. I had NEVER seen the ocean, and I couldn't wait to get there! I was so close I could smell it!
When we got about 3 blocks away..I could hear the waves. It was then that I fell in love with the ocean. (Oh how I miss it so..)
We walked the beach and the pier all day. It was so relaxing yet so exciting at the same time. We rode the ferris wheel, took lots of pictures, went to the aquarium, wrote our names in the sand and just sat and watched the waves all day. It was one of my favorite days....

Brozek Honeymoon {Part 2}
First stop L.A.
We arrived in LA..and the first thing Mike pointed out was a palm tree (since I had never seen one in real life). I felt like a little kid! I was so excited, and I hadn't even got outside the airport yet!
After we arrived at our hotel, we decided our 1st stop would be Hollywood. No particular reason...other than we were only 10 minutes away and I was starving. I knew I could find something yummy there!
On the way to Hollywood we got lost in that huge canyon. Yes, we got lost. And my car was literally slipping backwards at every stop sign. Minor freak out..but we made it!
Then we drove through Beverly Hills. It was so pretty! But I soon got bored... since I work in a town with even bigger houses than they have there... So we decided to call it a early night and relax at the hotel. It was amazing since it was our first night as newlyweds to just relax. And get a good night's sleep. Couldn't ask for anything better on the 1st night of our honeymoon.
Next up Santa Monica!

Brozek Honeymoon {Part 1}
As promised the next few posts are entirely dedicated to our honeymoon...
We went to California. I was especially excited because I had never flown before and I was just so excited to see California.....I'm not one to sit on the beach and drink a PiƱa Colada. And since I have never really traveled I wanted more of an adventure...and boy did we get an adventure! We got lost in a canyon, almost fell off a BIG canyon on a horse and got to see the wild fires of Santa Barbara (just to name a few!).
My first plane ride was fun....but seemed so long because was so excited! The suspense was killing me!
Here I am looking out the window trying to imagine what our honeymoon would be like. I just love this shot. It's an amazing memory of my first plane ride...and not knowing what was ahead of us.

A Quick Update
I'm still alive.
I'm really sorry for my lack of posts. Truth be told I've been really busy...and when I'm not so super busy I've been spending a lot of quality time with my hubby. He asked me shortly before we got married if I would promise to spend less time on the computer-and I made him that promise. But I've felt super guilty for not posting... I have lots of things in my head I want to post-and I promise I will start posting regularly soon.
Until then I will leave you with a picture from our honeymoon....

Honeymoon Part 2
Day 2: Our road trip to Santa Barbara.
We will leave L.A. May 5th and drive up the coast to Santa Barbara. We will be staying at this hotel. It's nothing really fancy but it's perfect for us. We are trying to keep this honeymoon as low cost as we can.
Day 1: LA
Day 2: Road trip-Check in with a bottle of Chardonnay and a box of gourmet chocolates-relax on the beach-and take in as much as we can..
Day 3: Enjoy more of the beach-and then go for our sunset dinner cruise on a 50ft. sailboat.
Check out this view..(I wish we could leave now!)
Day 4: Personalized country winery tour at 4 different wineries. Including a gourmet picnic lunch. A bottle of our chosen wine and 2 souvenir wine glasses. After our wine tour we may walk into town and check out some local restaurants and maybe wind down at some of their local night clubs.
Day 5: Beach and mountain horseback riding. I am especially looking forward to this. I've never seen mountains or the ocean. And absolutely love horses.Day 6: Our road trip back down the coast to LA, there we will do some more site seeing. Our flight won't be departing until 11:30pm....

Then we will be back home Sunday. Just in time to celebrate Mikey's birthday!
I'm not sure what I'm most excited for....our wedding day...or our honeymoon!!!

January 26, 2009
I just booked my 1st vacation!

I am so excited! I can barely contain myself!
We just booked our flights for our honeymoon!
Our Itinerary reads as follows:
Departing from Chicago: May 4 at 8:07AM
Arriving in LA at 10:36AM
We will be exploring LA, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Santa Monica our first 2 days in CA. I am a city girl at heart-and I had to see LA if we were coming to California!! We will be staying at the Sky Hotel. It's nothing like the Hilton-but check it out! I just love how fresh and modern it looks. I'm usually the more vintage chic but I love this hotel! I just booked our reservation and the guy who checked us in was super nice! He also said in the beginning of May is the start of their hot season-80 degrees! I am SO looking forward to that! (Here in Chicago it's only 13 degrees...bbbrrrrrrrrrrrr!)
I need some ideas of some cool lounge bars or some hot night clubs! We want to celebrate our 1st night! Any ideas ladies? I have a fav cousin who lives in West Hollywood and she has given me some ideas so far.. The Roxy, Whisky A Go-Go, Elevate Lounge...I'm not sure if we will be able to visit all of them..but we are going to try and hit up a few! I think our plan is to take a cab to Sunset Strip and just walk... I can't wait!
May 5 after breakfast we will drive over to the Santa Monica Pier. I can't wait to see, smell and feel the ocean. I've never seen it. I can't wait. I can't tell you how excited I am!
Next up...our drive to Santa Barbara!
